How do I decide on the topic of my Workshop Course so it doesn't interfere if I want to create a bigger digital course later on?
I want you to ask yourself this question and then decide on which of the three options below works best for you.
What is something that would be really valuable to your ICA, offer them a quick win and ultimately move them closer to being in a position to buy your future premier digital course?
Option 1:
Your topic could be based on some basic or beginner knowledge that your ideal customer would need in order to be ready and in the perfect position to purchase your future digital course.
For example: Let’s say you eventually plan to create an embroidery course on how to stitch a Fall table runner — a more advanced embroidery project. You might create a Workshop Course to teach your students the basics of hand embroidery — how to transfer a design, split the thread, thread a needle, tie a knot, and three or four different stitches. Once they’ve taken your workshop, they’ll better be in a position to take your more advanced course on how to create that table runner masterpiece.
Option 2:
Your topic could be a sliver of content you might teach in your future digital course at a much deeper level.
For example: Let’s say your eventual goal is to create a course to teach hair stylists how to open and run a successful salon. You might create a Workshop Course called, "How to Get 10 More Clients THIS MONTH Using This Single Facebook Ad Strategy.” The information is helpful, exciting and allows them to then take an important step toward growing their clientele so they’ll be in a better position to open their salon with a steady stream of customers. They are then also one step closer to being the perfect customer for your Signature program where you will dive deep into other business aspects of opening and running their salon.
Option 3:
Your topic could be something that would attract and be valuable to your ideal customer but isn’t anything you’d teach in your eventual course.
For example: In the past, I’ve hosted a Workshop Course called, “How to Plan Your 2023 Promo Calendar.” I knew that type of content would attract my ideal customer for List Builders Society because they will be very interested in the topic of planning and organizing their promotions (emails, free challenges, pre-launch content) for the upcoming year from someone who’s had success and can teach them exactly how to do their own promo calendar planning.
