How do you recommend setting up an affiliate partnership for a brand I promote inside my Workshop Course?
It’s a great idea to promote a product in your Workshop Course that you use in your own business or personal life. Often times, the product or brand you want to promote has an affiliate program that they offer, and if that’s the case, you don’t need to do any specific negotiation because they already have a system to use special links in order to give credit when somebody buys their program from your course. Just search their website for details on their affiliate program.
If the product or brand you would like to promote doesn’t have an affiliate program set up, typically anywhere from 30-50% is the average commission that a product or brand will offer when you promote to your audience.
So my suggestion is to reach out to them and request a commission structure that feels fair to you, and from there, negotiate based on their feedback.
Just be mindful that you need a specific link that tracks all sales that come from your program. They need to be willing to offer some kind of tracking strategy so that you are confident you’re getting credit for the sales that are coming from your students.
Let me give you an example. As you know, I use Membership.io for my course platforms, and because of that, I promote Membership.io to my students who are looking to create a larger digital course and/or a membership program. My students receive a special discount when they use my affiliate link, and in turn, I make a commission when someone signs up for Membership.io from my programs.
