How do we keep our course content from being stolen?
Honestly, this is something you do not need to worry about. People stealing content is incredibly rare. Most students are kind, honest, and just want to learn. The idea of your course being stolen can feel scary, but it almost never happens.
If it ever does, it is usually easy to fix. I have had content copied in the past, and my team simply sent a cease and desist letter. That was enough to shut it down quickly. We did not have to take it further, and I did not spend extra energy on it.
Here is what I want you to know:
- Most people will never copy your work. They are here because they trust you and want to learn from you.
- If someone crosses the line, you can handle it without drama. One email usually solves it.
- You do not need to protect every slide, video, or PDF with layers of legal language.
- Your content is safe because your teaching style, voice, and presence cannot be duplicated.
The best thing you can do is keep showing up and helping your audience. Lead with value, trust your community, and stay focused on your mission. Content theft is not something that needs to live rent-free in your head.
