How do you deal with negative and irrelevant (or self-promoting) comments during your Lives?

Negative or distracting comments are frustrating, but they are also a part of showing up publicly online. The best thing you can do in the moment is to stay focused and avoid giving them your energy or attention. Do not acknowledge them on camera. Redirect your focus to the people who are there to learn from you and engage with your message.

Here are a few ways to handle it smoothly:

  • Ignore and move on. If someone drops a comment that is off-topic, rude, or self-promotional, simply continue teaching as if it never happened. Most of your audience will follow your lead.
  • Have support in place. If you have a VA or someone helping you during your Live, ask them to monitor the chat and quietly remove or block people who are disruptive. That way, you can stay present with your content.
  • Clean up afterward. If you are solo and cannot handle it in real time, block or report the comment after your Live ends. Most platforms make this simple.
  • Remember your why. Do not let one comment throw you off. You are there to serve the people who showed up with open minds and willing hearts. Keep speaking to them.

Disruptive comments are annoying, but they are not a reflection of your value or your message. The more you go Live, the easier it becomes to stay centered and move forward with confidence.
