How do I handle Q&A during my Live workshop without it derailing my teaching?

The best way to keep your workshop on track while still making space for great questions is to set expectations early and stay in control. Here’s how to do it:

  • Set expectations right from the start. At the beginning of your workshop, let attendees know exactly when you'll take questions. This could be at the end, during a mid-point break, or after each main section. Being clear upfront helps everyone stay focused.
  • Encourage note-taking. If you're saving questions for the end, remind your audience to jot them down as they come up. This keeps the energy moving without constant interruptions.
  • Use the chat intentionally. Invite participants to drop their questions in the chat as they think of them, but let them know you'll circle back to answer them during the designated Q&A time.
  • Collect questions in advance. If you want to be extra prepared, ask participants to submit a question when they register or send an email the day before asking for their top question. This gives you a chance to spot common themes and prepare your answers.
  • Stay kind and confident in the moment. If someone jumps in with a question while you're mid-teaching, you can simply say, “Great question! I’ll come back to it during our Q&A section so we can keep moving through the content.”

A clear plan for Q&A keeps your workshop running smoothly and helps your audience feel supported every step of the way.
